Obituary for Ruth Marcella Gryka

Ruth Marcella Gryka, formerly Ruth Lindemann, passed away peacefully on 7/07/18 in Royal Oak, MI.  She was born on 6/28/30 in Baraga, MI.  Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Cindy Koykka, Patti (David) Hoose, and Nancy (Chris) Hazelton and grandmother of Jarrett and Lindsey Hazelton.  She is now with her dear husband of 49 years, Ernie Gryka, who passed away in 2008.

Ruth spent many years raising her three girls and was a terrific mom.  Over the years, she also worked at Lyben Computer Systems, American Car & Foundry, Autolite, and General Medical Center in Warren.

She was an avid sports fan, especially basketball.  Besides her family and friends, the two greatest loves of her life were the Tigers and Pistons and she watched every playoff game, regardless of who was playing.

Ruth had a tremendous green thumb and her gardens were absolutely gorgeous.  She was also well known for her cooking, baking  and sewing skills.

She enjoyed playing cards and for nearly 60 years, along with her husband, Ernie, was a member of the "Pinochle Bunch", a close knit group of friends who also vacationed together in the summer many times.  She also loved to travel and especially enjoyed Las Vegas and playing the nickel slots.

Ruth always decorated for the various holidays but Christmas was where she really shined.  The way she decorated her house at Christmas had to be seen to be believed and can probably best be described as "Bronner's South".

She grew up on a farm and loved playing music and singing.  She was also a big time shopper and often showed her love for people with gifts and cards.

Ruth also had a great love of animals, especially dogs and they very much loved her in return.  They would follow her around like she had treats in her pocket and would give her so many kisses that she thought it was her Noxema that they loved and not her.  She adored birds and would always make sure her bird feeders were full.

She is also survived by her brother, Nicky Lindemann,  her niece, Marilyn Boyle and many other nieces and nephews, as well as her best friend of 70 years, Fran Greyson.
