Obituary for Nancy Mae Stratton

Nancy Mae Stratton passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018. Born on May 25, 1924, she lived in Clawson her entire life. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Willson, of Troy, her nephew Robert Livingston, her great nephews, Ben (Amber), and Jesse, her niece Pat, loving cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Ashley Stratton and Alma Elizabeth (Price), her sisters Ruth and Mary Stratton,brother-in-law Glenn Willson, her niece, Linda Willson and her significant other of 62 years, Raymond Winn.

After graduating from Clawson High School in 1943, she worked as a policy writer for 34 years at National Casualty Insurance Company. Nancy was a founding member of First Congregational Church of Royal Oak.

Nancy and her sisters loved to entertain their friends and every year held a 4th of July party at their home. She and Dorothy loved to watch old movies, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Together they also enjoyed going out to eat with many of their friends.

Nancy and Ray attended plays at Meadowbrook and other Detroit area theaters. They loved to dance, take day trips and try new restaurants. They spent many enjoyable evenings eating and dancing at the Clawson Steak House.

Nancy loved to bake and was known for her coffee cakes and cookies. Her great nephews, Ben and Jesse, especially loved Aunt Nancy’s church window cookies.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at noon at the First Congregational Church of Royal Oak, 1314 Northwood Blvd., Royal Oak with visitation at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Royal Oak, Troy Beaumont Hospice or to a Veterans organization of the donor’s choice.
