The Colorful Life of Liliane

January 20, 1925 to January 28, 2018

Since first joining this world in 1925, Liliane Laure Deyoub has brought love, laughter and joy into people’s lives. She was born in Toulouse, France to Henri Dufau and Berthe Jacqueline Brunique. At the age of three, her family moved to Isle Rousse, Corsica, a place she was more than proud to call home.

Liliane lived on the beautiful Mediterranean Island with her parents and siblings, the late Roland and the late Hugette until meeting her husband in 1944. Liliane always had a thing for men in uniforms and after meeting Bernard Marsalese, an American soldier stationed on the island during World War 2, she decided to marry one. The two wed on April 6, 1945, moved to Highland Park, Michigan and remained together until Bernard’s death in 1963. They had five children together, Larry (Pat) Marsalese, Marie (the late Ron) Williams, the late Henri Marsalese, Robert Marsalese and Anthony (Jeff Davison) Marsalese.

Liliane found love a second time after meeting Tamir John Deyoub at a YMCA dance. The two married on April 17, 1967 and had another child, Rebecca (Kirk) Freeman. Liliane and Tamir travelled to Corsica numerous times and lived a wonderful life together until his death on August 23, 2006.

Along with being a wig maker, Liliane was also a talented seamstress, needlepoint artist and an amazing cook. But the thing she loved to do most was entertain people with her stories…And she had a lot of them. It didn’t matter if you were a family member or a complete stranger, if you ever met Liliane you were certain to hear all about her tales of growing up on Corsica (and how nowhere in the world can compare to it).

Liliane spent most of her life living in Clawson, Michigan, but also resided in Royal Oak, Oak Park and Rochester Hills. She lived the last three years at Butternut Hill Care in Troy, Michigan.

Along with her children, she is survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed.
