Obituary for James Albert Adams

James Albert Adams of Shelby Township passed away at home on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the age of 86. He was born to his parents Albert and Grace (maiden name: Riley) Adams on July 12, 1931 in Viroqua, Wisconsin.

James later married Mauvette on October 7, 1961 in Utica, Michigan and they have enjoyed over 50 years of marriage together. James worked as a crane operator at the Barton Malow Company and Cloverdale Equipment for 39 years before retiring in 1989. He was also a 67-year member of the Operating Engineers 324.

James was a veteran of the United States Army. He served as a Corporal during the Korean War from November 29, 1951 to November 3, 1953. In just under two years, he received five commendations. Jim was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

James is survived by his wife Mauvette; children Sherrie (Randy Stier) Michon, Donald (Nina) Adams, Elizabeth Adams, Cynthia (Ronald LaRaia) Adams, and James (Judy) Adams; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Grace, his brother, and 6 sisters.
