November 26, 1945 - July 31, 2017

Online Obituaries for the Utica & Shelby Township, MI. area.

Jay M. Kostas, 71, of Shelby Twp., MI. died July 31, 2017.  He is a Veteran of the US Navy and a member of the VFW- Disco post #4659.

Jay retired as a supervisor from Ford Motor Company in 1999. He is survived by his wife Margaret whom he married August 22, 1970 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, MI. Jay is also survived by his daughters Carrie Robinson and Stacy Phillips, grandchildren DJ and Drew Phillips and siblings Stephen (Kathy), and Ann (Pat) Kelly.

Carrie writes -

"Dad purchased the cottage on Lakeville in 1979. He loved sitting out on the lake. He loved thunderstorms and would take Stacy and I out on the back patio during them and taught us how to tell how far a storm was away from us by counting in between the lighting strikes and when the thunder came.

Dad always fed the birds and loved watching all birds including the hummingbirds.

Dad loved to hunt and fish. He would wake us up at 5:00am to go out on the boat to fish- rain or shine.

Loved spending time with his buddies (stickman and big louie) at the lake watching the tigers games and sitting by the water having bonfires, drinking beer and doing an occasional shot of schnapps."
