Online Obituaries for Clawson, MI..

Richard “Dick” Gramer was born May 12, 1938, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. He was raised in Richmond, Michigan by his parents Henry C. and Anna T. Gramer. He enjoyed his early years with his siblings Henry, Donna (Ward), Joan (Matthews), John, and Anne (Eisenhardt). Sadly, all are now deceased. He completed his high school education at St. Augustine High School in Richmond, where he met and later married Marilyn A. Schomburg. Dick and Marilyn have been married for nearly sixty years. They have two sons, Michael (Marisa) and Richard, and a daughter, Karen. He was the proud grandfather of Theresa (Jamie) Love, Andrea (Ryan Moder) Gramer, Christina (Jimmy) Smuda, and Lucas Rich. He had two cherished great-grandchildren, Sydney and Grayson Love. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, William Ward and Joseph (Sharon) Schomburg. He was an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Dick and Marilyn moved to Clawson in 1958 to join his brother, Henry J. Gramer in the operation of Gramer Funeral Home. Dick was well known to hundreds of people as a very compassionate, caring man that would help them through very difficult times in their lives. He worked at the funeral home for 42 years until his retirement in 2000. The last few years before his retirement, he was proud to mentor his nephew Paul. All throughout his adult life, Dick enjoyed repairing and working on automobiles, a skill taught to him by his dad when he was a young boy. A skill that he, in turn, would teach his own sons. He spent a lot of time over the past fifty years building, maintaining, and improving a “cabin in the woods” to be used as a vacation destination up north. The family has spent countless hours together at the cabin he built. He was a talented man with numerous accomplishments. His immediate family is as proud of him as he was of them. He is loved and will be remembered with the highest admiration.
