Carolee Anne Penny, 79 of Clawson since 1959, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was born July 31, 1938 in Mio, Michigan to Carmen and Florence (Hagar) Penny. Carolee grew up in Mio where she graduated from Mio High School. Later she became a secretary in the counseling office within the Clawson Public School District. She worked in the school counseling office for 36 years, retiring in 2016. Carolee was devoted to her job and all of the students she came in contact with and treated them as if they were her own children.

Family was very important to Carolee and she adored her children and grandchildren. She would travel all over the state to make certain she could be there for her grandchildren's sporting events. She found joy in listening to music and some of her favorites were Jazz, Swing, Eagles, Elvis, Bob Segar and Big Bands. 

She is survived by her loving children, Douglas (Kathleen) Penny, Mark Penny, Lisa Penny (Pauly Granzow) and eight wonderful grandchildren, Bradley, Alex, Claire, Kevin, Kyle, Nate, Michael and Brendan. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted Penny who passed away 20 years ago. Ted and Carolee were married on Valentine's Day back in 1957 in Flint, Michigan. Carolee was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Florence Penny and grandson, Kevin Penny (2014).

Memorial Gathering will take place Friday, August 18, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 P.M. at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 North Main St., Clawson, MI 48107, 248-435-9010.
