Online Obituaries for the Troy, Royal Oak, Clawson & Shelby Township MI Area

Joyce C. McIntyre

January 29, 1931 - September 16, 2017

Online Obituaries for Troy, Royal Oak and Clawson, Michigan.

Joyce C. McIntyre died early Saturday morning September 16, 2017 at home with family by her side.

Joyce was a very outgoing, loving and thoughtful woman.  She never met a stranger in her life and would have someone spilling out their life story in a heartbeat.  She loved her family and friends, however she held dearest her grandchildren. There was nothing she wouldn't do for Alyssa and Michael. She was extremely proud of them.

Joyce's hobbies were gardening and birdwatching.  If you ever saw her yard and beautiful gardens, you would know how much she loved it. She would do anything  to identify what kind of bird she was hearing for the first time.  Even if  that meant  driving through a cemetery at top speed!

Mom always had time to share with people.  She would  listen to their stories and enjoy every minute of it. She gave her time to the Clawson Historical Museum and the Breast Care Center at Beaumont Hospital. She would share the bounty of her garden with everyone.

Joyce was born and raised in Detroit. She married her high school sweetheart, Mike. She accompanied him to Alaska where he was stationed during the Korean War. When he was discharged they moved to Clawson and built the first house on Coolidge Street where they raised two daughters, Sue and Carrie. Joyce has always been very proud of Clawson and what its become. She was very up to date on politics and enjoyed a good discussion about them.

We will miss you Mom. You will forever be in our hearts and lives.

She was 86 years old. Joyce resided in the first house built on Coolidge street in Clawson for nearly 62 years. She was born January 29, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Marjorie (Maiden name: Davey).

Joyce worked for many years in a clerical position for Handleman Company until her retirement in 1999.  She was an active volunteer and had a special love for the Clawson Historical Commission.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Susan Montgomery and Carrie McIntyre, 2 grandchildren Alyssa and Michael.
