Online Obituaries for the Troy, Royal Oak, Clawson & Shelby Township MI Area

Bobbie Jo Hammond, 65, of Clawson died July 22, 2017.

Bobbie is survived by her children Jason (Antoinette) and Emily (Grayson) Story, 5 grandchildren and her sisters Bonnie Littleton, Frances (Glen) Buchanan and Tina (Trudi) Bates.

Preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Mesarosh and Jimmie Kathleen Butler.

Bobbie Jo (Butler) Hammond was born on August 11th, 1951, to Hilda and Elbert Butler. She was the middle baby sister and wasn't afraid to share that with you. She loved, fiercely, her five sisters: Bonnie, Frances, Virginia (Jennie), Kathy, and her baby sister Tina. While she wasn't at the top of Clawson High's Class of 1969 - as she may have bragged - she was a great friend to numerous classmates, many of which remained her best and closest friends.

Bobbie was married for eighteen years to Joey Hammond, and was the proud mother of Jason Hammond and Emily (Hammond) Story. Jason and his wife, Toni, have two beautiful daughters, Kylee and Mary. Emily and her husband, Grayson, have three handsome boys, Hayden, Griffin and Knox, to whom she was known "Bunky." In addition to being a mother and grandmother, she was the enamored owner to the two "loves of her life," Tillie and Stella, her precious dogs.

Bobbie also adopted many close friends as family members. Suzanne Flake was her sister, "husband" and best friend. She was also a proud Nana to Kristin Harris and her children, Lauren, Savannah, Dawson and Josie.

For over two decades Bobbie drove bus for Troy School District and was known as "Miss  Bobbie" to her riders. She loved her job and each year of the differing students, choosing to drive special needs riders in her twilight years. After retiring in 2007, she enjoyed her retirement in traveling and moving to both North Carolina and Florida, before returning to her home State of Michigan, where she passed away.

P.S. Although we know her cousin, Barack Obama, may not be in attendance, however if he does choose to attend we will happily supply him with a photo of Bobbie to hang on his and Michelle's wall, as she did his family portrait.
