Ford Andrew Mecum suddenly departed on September 22, 2011. He is truly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He was born in Pensacola, Florida on September 28, 1953 to the late Ford A. Mecum Sr. and to the now Joan A. Williams. He lived most of his life in Shelby Township, Michigan surrounded by family and friends. He was a great lover of the wilderness, and enjoyed spending time in Northern Michigan. From the time when he was a small child he loved hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. He passed on this love for the outdoors to his two daughters and granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving partner, Deborah James and their beloved daughter Skye A. Mecum. He also is survived by his daughter Mandy A. Mecum, and granddaughter Samantha Schikora. He also leaves behind a loving mother, Joan A Williams; and stepfather Robert Williams; sister Kimberly Tetzlaff, and two nephews Michael Mecum and Andrew Tetzlaff.
Although the family he leaves behind is small in size, the amount of love for him is immense. He will be missed everyday by us all.
Per his request, the ashes of Ford Mecum will be scattered in the springtime in Northern Michigan.
A Memorial Service is planned at the family's home on October 2, 2011.
