Online Obituaries for the Troy, Royal Oak, Clawson & Shelby Township MI Area

Edward “Eddie” Kretschmann, 21, died peacefully in his home on October 7, 2017. He is survived by his parents Karl and Anamaria, his sister Kelly, his grandparents Hans and Kate Kretschmann, Isabelle Kretschmann, and Nicholas and Ann Mares, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Eddie was a simple man. His signature look was a basic tee or hoodie with a quirky smile. Eddie was a loyal friend with an instinctive drive to help others. His sarcastic wit and outgoing personality made it easy for anyone to find a friend in him. He loved spending his spare time at the animal shelter, where he found great comfort and joy in his furry friends. He was even declared a hero when he climbed into a dirty sewer to save a duckling and reunite it with its mother.

It became clear that Eddie was a creative soul with a keen sense of humor, as he began using YouTube at a young age as a vessel to spark his creativity, often making silly videos with his friends. Eddie also enjoyed skiing, spending time at the lake up north, and getting lost in a good book. As a natural thrill seeker, Cedar Point became a landmark of euphoric childhood memories. This past summer Eddie was lucky enough to go skydiving with his sister and dad; a 14,000 foot experience he could not stop raving about.

Eddie made a mean chili, and his banana bread was a close second favorite. His sister often teased him for his love of drinking milk, as he admitted on many occasions to drinking a gallon per day. Perhaps that’s what made him so strong.

Through his struggles we all came to know Eddie’s strength, perseverance, and resilience. In recent years he overcame many battles through hope and determination. It was not an easy road, but his loved ones could not be more proud of the young man he turned out to be. His mom always called him “The Man,” rooting him on in every step of his journey.

The staff and facilities at Gramer were absolutely the best. Their heartfelt compassion & dedication were obvious. We couldn’t have asked for better care than we received. Brooke even had her wedding the day after Dad’s funeral and the service still went perfectly. We highly recommend Gramer.
