Thornton, Margaret A., died January 28, 2012, in Rochester Hills, MI at the age of 94. She was born in Barton Twp. (Hamilton), Ontario, Canada, on December 9, 1917, and moved to the United States as a young girl.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late E. Bruce Thornton, dear mother of Martha (Terry) Hart, cherished grandmother of Bruce (Andrea) Zysk of Waterford, MI and Joanne Truitt of Virginia Beach, VA, and dearest great-grandma of Zachary Neill and Owen Zysk.

Maggie, as she was known to family and friends, is also survived by her sister-in-law, Royal Kemp and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Rose Snyder and a brother, William Hanley Kemp; as well as a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Jean Floer.

Maggie graduated from Clawson High School in 1936 and worked for many years as a counter clerk at Class Pharmacy. She and Bruce remained in Clawson until 2005, before moving to a senior retirement complex.

The joys of her life were her family, bowling, golfing, and trips to the casinos.

She was a member of the Clawson United Methodist Church, the Clawson-Troy Elks Club, and the National 600 Bowling Club.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 4 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at
Gramer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., Clawson, MI 48017.

She will lie In State at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5 at
Clawson United Methodist Church, 205 N. Main, Clawson.
The Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:30 p.m.

Memorials can be made to the church, Hospice of Michigan or your favorite charity.
