Lushiina Zen was born on July 22, 1934 to Alto and Catherine Keener, In Birmingham, Alabama. She was the second oldest of four children, Katherine, Akiva and Patricia. Katherine and Patricia preceded her in death. She received her early education in the Birmingham School district.
Lushiina was compassionate towards the homeless, the elderly, and those who were less fortunate. She took the time to care for those who were sick and in need.
Lushiina was an esteemed seamstress and an excellent cook. She also excelled as an interior decorator.
Lushiina was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost at Straight Gate Church. She was a member of Kingdom of God Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Donzella Ervin. Bishop James Bowman, pastor of the House of Jesus Apostolic Church was a personal friend and constant source of strength during her illness.
Lushiina departed this world on September 21, 2013 after a long illness. Those left to cherish her memories are five daughters, Vedina Zen, Ladora Davis (Lester), Rosina Lor of New York,and Wafia and Ladia (Anthony) of Detroit, Michigan. Her daughters Darinetta, Concietta, and Midaris preceded her in death. She also leaves, thirteen grandchildren, Charisse, Derrick, Bernard, Kito, Eddie, Jayson, Jedina, Kimberley, Mirya, Terry, Tyre, Demi, Mekiele, Sabrina, and Micah and twelve great grandchildren, her sister Akiva, a brother-in-law, Milton, sister-in-law Carrie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
