Online Obituaries for the Troy, Royal Oak, Clawson & Shelby Township MI Area

Gerard Francis Hartline, 58, of Royal Oak formerly of Farmington Hills and Clawson died April 12, 2017. He was born in Detroit to Chester and Margaret Hartline and graduated from Clawson High School. As a young man, his hairstyle earned him the nickname "sheephead" where he worked. As the youngest of 7 siblings, he was always referred to as the "baby"...which he hated. He never forgot to call you on your birthday. He knew all of our birthdays and never failed to wish you a happy birthday. He was unselfish with his time if you needed a hand.

Gerard was an Industrial Automation Specialist and  worked in almost every automotive assembley plant in North and South America, He also helped set up assembly plants in Spain, Begium, Germany and the UK .He was an extremely talented troubleshooter and a tireless worker. His favorite quote at work was "Don't worry, I'll fix way or the other." Gerald has helped and mentored many people in his trade. You always knew help was only a phone call away.

Gerard was an avid gardener. He could make plants grow where no one else could. He said all you had to do was talk to them. He was interested in woodworking and dog rescue. Few people knew that he was an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, and children Wendell Sherrell, Wesley Sherrell and Tiallo Tinnin.

Gerald is also survived by 5 grandchildren and siblings Keith (Joyce) Hartline, Cheryl Winnie, Suzanne Hartline, Darryl (Kim) Hartline, Diane (Pete) Budd and Gerriane (Doug) Heinrich as well as several nieces and nephews.
